I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ve made a momentous decision to return and share my work at the Comic Con Artist Alley Creator Community! Just this July of 2023, I participated in the Reno Comic-con, where I proudly set up my table at the Artist Alley to showcase the return of my beloved Dreamwalker Graphic Novel after a 12-year hiatus!

For those unfamiliar with my journey, it all began back in 2009 when I embarked on creating my very own comic book, which I finally completed in 2011. Back then, I was relatively inexperienced in the comic book realm, but I took it upon myself to learn the ropes through diligent research and networking with fellow enthusiasts. It’s been an incredible ride, replete with valuable lessons and experiences. While honing my artistic skills and immersing myself in extensive research on comic book creation, I leaned heavily on my graphic design expertise to craft my own masterpiece on the computer.

Between 2010 and 2012, I joyously participated in various comic cons in the Artist Alley, sharing my art and passion with the world. However, after attending five conventions during those two years, I felt the need to take a break, and at that point, I never considered returning.

During that time, I faced considerable discouragement, and as a younger artist, I lacked the self-belief necessary to persevere in that direction. Consequently, I decided to pivot back into the corporate world, resuming my career as a Graphic Designer. Nonetheless, I continued drawing, and after two years in New York, I returned to California in late 2013. Settling in LA, my freelance illustration career flourished as I worked on various projects. For the past few years, I’ve taken a step back to reflect on my aspirations, never truly anticipating a return to the comic con realm.

Yet, attending the Reno Comic Con and showcasing my work felt like a remarkable rebirth, rekindling my creative spirit! The positive response from attendees, praising my illustration style, left me incredibly inspired. There’s no better compliment to an artist! The show may have been small, but the turnout was astounding.

To all those who supported me by purchasing my graphic novel or art book, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. Your encouragement means the world to me!

To my astonishment, the response to my “Dreamwalker” graphic novel was overwhelmingly positive. I didn’t realize there was such keen interest! This show served as a litmus test, and engaging in conversations with attendees humbled me greatly. The outpouring of support and appreciation made it clear that I must stay the course and keep creating more work!

The enchantment of the Reno Comic Con extended far beyond my own table. The Artist Alley brimmed with exceptional talent, and I was fortunate to encounter remarkably gifted artists. Conversing with them and exchanging stories of perseverance in our artistic journeys reminded me that each creator has a unique story to tell.

Belonging to this vibrant community, where mutual support and inspiration flow freely, underscores the power of passion and resilience. It reinforces the notion that an artist’s path may be marked by highs and lows, but ultimately, it is our love for the craft that propels us forward. The Creator Community is a truly supportive space!

Speaking of connections, I also had the pleasure of attending the Seattle Comic Con in early March this year. There, I reunited with old artist friends I had once shared a table with at the San Diego Comic Con in 2011. But that’s a story for another post!

The Reno Comic Con has filled my heart with gratitude and excitement for the future! This event has rejuvenated my passion for my artwork and reignited my love for storytelling through this visual medium. Now more than ever, I’m determined to continue creating and sharing my work with the world. I have an abundance of plans for the coming year, including an upcoming story project that I hope to announce very soon.

To my incredible readers who made it this far, thank you for your unwavering support and enthusiasm for my art!
